The Parks Main Street (TPMS) is looking for volunteers! As a member of the DC Main Streets program, TPMS is committed to ensuring the continued vitality of the commercial corridors in Riggs Park and Manor Park and we need your help to make our work a success.

There are five ways to volunteer:

1. The Promotions Committee works to market The Parks Main Street and its businesses to current and potential audiences. By promoting the corridor’s unique characteristics to shoppers, investors, new businesses, and visitors.  The Committee helps shape a positive image of and increase traffic to the area and takes an active role in planning and staffing events. The Committee meets monthly.

    

2. The Design Committee works to keep the commercial corridor in top physical shape. Capitalizing on assets and creating an inviting atmosphere through window displays, parking areas, signs, sidewalks, street lights, and landscaping, the Committee strives to convey visual messages about what The Parks Main Street is and what it has to offer. The Committee meets monthly.

    

3. The Economic Vitality Committee works to recruit new businesses and help existing ones expand and stay relevant. Through studies and business censuses, the Committee discovers what is important and relevant to business and building owners, and works to curate discussions and projects that speak to these issues. The Committee meets monthly.

    

4. The Organization Committee works to support and develop The Parks Main Street into a sustainable organization through leading our fundraising efforts, recruiting and coordinating volunteers, and promoting the work of The Parks Main Street with community partners and with citywide with partners.  The Committee meets monthly.

5. General Volunteers  Not yet ready to sign up for a committee? You can help the organization and staff with a wide variety of tasks – we’ll need general help with events and special projects, support for mailings, and other administrative duties.
